The number of pages per session measures the depth of navigation of your visitors. The more pages visitors view, the more they explore your catalog and the closer they get to the purchase act.
Calculation: Pages per session = Total pageviews / Number of sessions. For an e-commerce, the average is between 3 and 6 pages per session. Purchase sessions often exceed 8-10 pages.
A high number of pages per session is generally a positive signal, but it can also indicate poor navigation: visitors are searching without finding. Cross-reference with time per page and conversion rate.
Fullmetrix tracks pages per session by customer segment and helps you identify the paths that most often lead to purchase.
